MINURCAT recently trained another batch of 127 new DIS elements. During the closing ceremony of this training session, MINURCAT also donated 94 new Pick-Up trucks to this force that has been tasked with protecting refugees and IDPs in eastern Chad. Whereas the newly-formed DIS elements will reinforce the strength of the DIS, the newly-acquired 4X4 vehicles will help improve its effectiveness on the ground. Twenty (20) of these vehicles were escorted to Abeche on 13 March 2010, and the remaining will follow in subsequent batches. The current strength of the DIS stands at 764, including 71 elements stationned in N'Djamena.
